Wow. I really never knew that Muse‘s concept album “Resistance” (2009) is based upon Orwell’s “Nineteen Eighty-Four”, being as a matter of fact a “mini rock opera”.
Not only there are allusions to the plot of the book, but also direct use of the “realities” from Orwell’s dystopian world: thought police, United States of Eurasia etc.
They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious.
The music is, as it is typical of Muse, powerful and straightforward, leaving no doubts what the musicians’ political views are.
