A certain Leonid Žmudj (b. 1956; according to a very brief Wikipedia article, he specializes in Ancient Greek science) published this essay in “Zvezda” magazine in 1998.
This text is very interesting, though, in several respects: it gives not only an insight into what Soviet science looked like, but also evokes a strong parallelism with what is known today as “Putin’s Stagnation”.
