Levinarium, No.

It is a huge mystery to me why most of Hiperbolė’s songs were eradicated from the Internet a couple of years ago, although it seems it would only be logical if folks shared the band’s tracks.

Hiperbolė had a very difficult history: they were less known to the Soviet audience than the representatives of Moscow, Leningrad and Sverdlovsk Rock Schools. They were therefore easier to be trumped up by the government. Which happened in late 1980s: the boys were accused of being deserters and sent to the army by force. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, they returned to Lithuania, but the career could not be resumed to the full: the country was in a deep crisis.

Nevertheless, they sang several very charming songs of which I recommend the following ones:

Hiperbolė “Į tavę”, “Vandens ženklai”, “Vasara buvo”, “Vasara”

It’s a very nice and hot summer, so let’s sing along:

Vasara vasara
Jūra atnešė man
Gintarą lyg tavo ašarą.

Summer, summer,
The sea is bringing to me
An amber stone – like your tear.
