Levinarium, No.

Well, this story is quite amusing.

Prāta Vētra‘s “Tu izvēlējies palikt” (“You decided to remain here”) became so famous outside Latvia that the group decided to saddle the hype and record the English version with a more “optimistic” text: “Welcome to My Country” they called it.

The original text is, however, about space travel (probably without coming back), saying good-bye, not seeing each other anymore.

The perfect waltz to accompany your break-up on a fare-thee-well evening, I would cynically say.

Tu izvēlējies palikt,
Es – aizlidot.
Un kurš no mums būs pirmais,
Kurš būs pēdējais?

You decided to stay, I decided to fly away. And which of us is going to be the first, and who the last?

The English text and the “official video” look more like a very cheap advertisement for the international audience. Watch it if only you want to spoil all the romantic image of Prāta Vētra.

English title: Brainstorm “You Decided to Remain Here”
Original title (Latvian): Prāta Vētra “Tu izvēlējies palikt
