Levinarium, No.

Are you keen on English-language indies?

Many people are sincerely enraged that the contemporary stage is “dominated” by Brits and Americans.

I see it a bit from a different perspective. I say: no, no, guys, French, Russians, Germans, Italians and even Polish and Hungarians contributed to the world music treasury while you were silent there on your islands and overseas. How many English composers can you think of? Purcell and Elgar? Not enough. So please. Your turn.

I’ve listened to hundreds of albums. Not all of the sweet-voiced Oprheuses are worth knowing deeply, but the ones I’ve selected for you are probably among the best in the late 20th / early 21st centuries.

Softer and sweeter:
The Wombats
* Imagine Dragons
* OneRepublic
* Coldplay
* 30 Seconds to Mars
 (Jared Leto)

Harder and stranger:
* Mudhoney
* BEAK>
* Ian Gillan
* Jethro Tull
* Cocteau Twins
 (listen to their “Beatrix” and get stunned)
