Levinarium, No.

The Verve’s soloist RichardAshcroft is just beautiful when he is singing in this quite dramatic black-and-white video, “The Drugs Don’t Work” (1997, album “Urban Hymns”).

And I hope you’re thinking of me
As you lay down on your side
Now the drugs don’t work
They just make you worse
But I know I’ll see your face again.

Now the drugs don’t work
They just make you worse
But I know I’ll see your face again.

All in all, the inevitable doom is constantly pending over all Ashcroft’s lyrics and melodies, his musical style and melancholic voice completing the Verve’s incomparable style.
