Have bought it only recently, but already chewed it up. Amazingly written biographies (like short stories, really) of the most important personalities of the Middle Ages. This is what happens when a professional historian is a wonderful story-teller, too.
What boosts the quality is the approach to history I share and advocate myself: there is no “Eastern” or “Western” history. All the most important gods and devils, French, Mongolian, Japanese, Czech, are there, under the same cover.
